HUDDERSFIELD’S snooker team launched into a new Yorkshire League season with a 4-2 home loss to Selby.
Jason McMahon and Colin Hawkins both shared the spoils with their opponents, but Andy Battye was beaten 2-0 in the anchor role at Crosland Moor Conservative Club.
Both McMahon and Hawkins scored well in their respective opening frames against J Foster and P Jackson.
But they were edged out, before hitting back to win the second frames, while Battye, too, had chances in his second frame against R Knapp, but in the end had to concede defeat.

After a flurry of top breaks in the SMileS Open Snooker League, it was back to earth this week with a best mark of 41 for Rob Armitage as Marsh Liberal Club beat Honley Con 3-1.
