OPEN snooker champion Robert Read will face Luckvinder Landa at Lindley Working Men’s in the second semi-final of this year’s tournament, on Wednesday, April 22 (7.30pm).
Both men are members at Lindley WMC, so officials decided the sensible solution would be to play the match at the Brian Street club, which should attract plenty of interest among home club players.
The first semi-final, to be played at Marsh Liberal Club, on Wednesday, April 8 (7.30) is between Chris Dyson (Spot Spot) and Simon Stockwell (Bradley & Colnebridge).
Adrian O’Connor of Kirkheaton Liberal hit a 52 break, the week’s highest, and yet still lost a close match with M Blakeley of Broad Oak BC D, O’Connor having to give his opponent 64 start.
