OPEN snooker champion Robert Read got the new SMileS Huddersfield League season off to a blazing start when he cleared the table with a century break in the his first frame of the new campaign.
Playing on his home table at Lindley WMC against Broad Oak Bowling Club’s A team, Read (off minus 45) played the lead-off frame giving 57 start against Adam Harper, off plus 12.
After taking a red and black, Harper scored his solitary point when potting a red down the left rail, but then after a short bout of safety, he sat and watched Read knock in 13 reds with colours to clear the table with a break of 107.
And with Naeem also making a clearance of 54 to beat Kevin Ellis, reigning League champions Lindley came out of the match with a 3-1 victory.
