THE Borough of Kirklees swimmers have been enjoying a successful run.

At the Yorkshire Championships held at Scarborough, the BOK Masters squad won 33 gold, 17 silver and 19 bronze medals.

The 12 team events proved particularly profitable as the BOK teams managed to win eight gold medals, one silver and three bronze medals.

In the Great Britain Masters at the John Charles Swimming Pool in Leeds seven swimmers represented BOK and managed to win three gold medals.

The club’s winners were Amie Garforth in the 1500m freestyle and Jamie Offord, with two victories in the 100m and 200m freestyle.

The club also won seven silver medals and two bronze medals – including the Women’s Open 200m Medley team who finished second in their age group category.

The team consisted of Kirsten Durrans, Sally Shields, Carolyn Irvine and Wendy Offord.

“These Masters swimmers have put in a lot of hard work and dedication,” said Jon Snaith, coach of the BOK Masters squad.

“They have been training four or five times a week and are deserving of the results produced at both galas representing BOK Swimming Club.”
