HARMONIE WATERMAN was in record-breaking form as Borough of Kirklees made an excellent start to this year’s County BAGCAT Championships.

Harmonie dominated the 12 years age group with four wins in the freestyle events, including a new club record in the 100m with 1min 01.85sec, and victory in the 400m individual medley.

Harmonie set new best times in all the events and picked up national qualifying times (NQTs) in the 100m and 800m freestyle.

Regen Gregg has set himself new standards by not only winning the 13 years 100m and 200m breaststroke but also taking the 100m butterfly title.

His time in the 200 event gave him his first NQT of the season.

Jamie Brown made it a double with wins in two of the toughest events – the 800m and 1500m freestyle – in the 14 years age group.

Jessica Manning is one of a number of emerging swimmers in the younger age groups and her wins in the 200m breaststroke and 200m IM were well deserved.

She also broke the club record in the 200m IM.

Daniel Valerio swam well in the 14 years age group to take his favourite event, the 200m butterfly, and was also a surprise winner in the 100m backstroke, taking eight seconds off his best time.

Rebecca Whalley took the 13 years 100m breaststroke event and was unlucky not to make it a double after finishing second in the 200.

Emily Robinson swam a great race to win the 10 years 200m IM, again in a new best time.

The Borough swimmers are now looking forward to the next championship, which involves the 50m sprints, and then finishing off with the team events.
