HUDDERSFIELD’s second team put in a fantastic display to beat Keighley 7-3 in the Yorkshire Vets’ Inter-league table tennis match at Kingsmith Engineers.

The mainstay was undoubtedly Dave Wood, whose solid defensive play and quick hitting brought him victory in all three sets, as well as helping Ian Tweedale win the doubles.

Tweedale, a former Halifax player, won two sets on his debut, while Bob Sanderson also chipped in with a win over Derek Brigs.

The Thirds were not so fortunate, as Roger Morley scored Huddersfield’s only two points in an 8-2 loss to Bradford, but the Firsts were awarded all 10 points when Scarborough failed to raise a team.
