BATLEY ITC are jubilant after winning the Slazenger Huddersfield Tennis League for the first time in their history.

The club, who finished fourth in last year’s men’s Division I – behind champions Huddersfield A, Thongsbridge and Liversedge – clinched the title ahead of Thongsbridge, who finished runners-up for a second consecutive season.

At the other end of the table, however, Hillside A and Mirfield A were relegated.

Replacing them will be Men’s Division II champions Thongsbridge B and Huddersfield B, who will be joining them after claiming the runners-up spot.

In fact it has been a magnificent season for Edgerton-based Huddersfield Lawn Tennis and Squash Club who have seen three sides gain promotion – the B, C and D teams.

In the Ladies League, Thongsbridge retained the title ahead of Holmfirth, once again, while Marsden A and Grove A move into Division I at the expense of Thongsbridge B and Longley A.
