HUDDERSFIELD Lawn Tennis & Squash Club held their biennial ladies double charity event, with money raised this year going to Cancer Research.
A total of 26 ladies took part in the tournament which began with a series of round robin matches, which ended with four pairs going through to the semi-final stages.
Lynda Wood and Kate Holdsworth from the host club beat Susan Tootell and Sandra Gaunt from Liversedge and Grove Tennis Club 6-0, while two more Edgerton couples fought out the second semi-final, Karen Margis and Christine Baldwin beating sisters Charlotte and Claire Kershaw in a gripping 7-5 encounter.
The final also swung one way and another before Wood and Holdsworth finally got the better of Margis and Baldwin, winning 6-4.
On the day, the tournament raised £250, and combined with a mixed charity event held last month, the total raise was £400 for Cancer Research.
