HUDDERSFIELD is guaranteed a finalist in the Girls 16 and Under competition at the Sellers International.

Thongsbridge ace Kim Atkinson will take on host-club player Charlotte Kershaw in Saturday’s semi-finals at Huddersfield Lawn Tennis and Squash Club.

Atkinson progressed by beating Charlotte Bradshaw of Slaithwaite 6-0 6-3 and then Yorkshire’s Ella Riddle 7-6 6-2.

The two each won a set 6-2 before going to a match tie-break which eventually finished 18-16 to the Huddersfield competitor.

After that, Wilson-Baig defeated Nemihah Fletchman in the semi-finals, winning 6-2 6-4 to book his place.

In the Girls 12s, Huddersfield’s Katie Morton is still going strong after beating Amy Griffiths 6-3 6-4 and Megan Hopton 7-5 7-5.

In the Boys 16s, the final on Saturday will be between the top two seeds Dominic Beesley (No1) and Liam Earnshaw (No2).

In the main Men’s draw, top seed Dan Sinclair of Thongsbridge was up against his brother Nathan for a place in the semi-finals.

The other quarter-finals were Simon Howson v Andrew Lee, Sean Stafford v Mohammad Shaffiq and Harry Edwards (Huddersfield) v No2 seed Phil Warley.
