AFTER A successful start to the Sellers International at Huddersfield Lawn Tennis and Squad Club, senior qualifying is now under way at Edgerton.

Junior events were the focus over the weekend and yesterday, the seniors took their bow.

Top seed in the men’s event is Thongsbridge player Dan Sinclair, with Oldham’s Nathan Jones ranked No2.

Defending champion is Mike Tolman of Huddersfield, this year the fourth seed, with Sean Stafford – a coach at Edgerton – also seeded to make the semi-finals.

Only two players are seeded in the women’s sections – Jo Craven of Leeds at No1 and Emily Singleton of Stockport at No2.

Competition is taking place all week on 10 courts at the venue – four indoor and six outside – and entry is free.

Tournament organisers say everyone is welcome to go along and sample some top tennis in an event which is a Lawn Tennis Association official Grand Prix tournament for the juniors.
