Huddersfield III 3 King Cross 3

HUDDERSFIELD Thirds finished their hockey season with a hard-fought draw against second-in-the-table King Cross.

It condemned the visitors to staying in the division next year.

Huddersfield have not been beaten since early December, and this draw took their run to 14 games unbeaten, an excellent achievement.

There was solid work in defence from Amjid Hamed and John Moscrop and the home side went in front through Jonny Beaumont.

Soon after, Jon Walker extended the lead from a short corner.

King Cross pushed for the win that would have guarantee them promotion.

But Huddersfield weathered the early pressure well with Dan Cooper, James Taylor and Andy Swindells working hard in defence. Unfortunately for the hosts, King Cross scored twice in quick succession to level.

Huddersfield kept their composure, however, and Brett Kullar eventually netted with a first time strike from a Moscrop cross.

King Cross pushed everybody forward as they searched for the win and five minutes from the end were awarded a short corner from which the ball looped into the Huddersfield goal.
