The youngster recently moved up from the 10 and Under age category to compete in the 12s age group with players much older than himself.

Local talents Ben Horner and Stephanie Carter were also in action.

Despite overcoming Ellis Corbet in the first round, Horner lost to eventual winner Paul Jubb in the quarter-finals of the 14 and Under Winter Regional Tour event in Hull.

Meanwhile, after knocking out Melissa Lowe, Carter was defeated by higher-rated opponent Amy Hadjinicolau in the semi-finals of the 16 and Under County Tour event in Leeds.

The annual Thongsbridge Tennis Club mini tennis closed club championship has taken place.

Tommy Vale overcame Kieran Frost in a tight final in the 8 and Under category while in the 9 and Under event Dominic Vesely brought home the title with a win over Alex Tikhonov.

Adam Boyle claimed the 10 and Under trophy with a hard-fought victory over Jacob Chadwick under the floodlights in the final.
