Borough of Kirklees trio of swimmers came home from the GB Master’s Swimming Championships with half a dozen medal.

The BOK contingent were among competitors from 195 other swimming clubs representing from all four home nations in the event at Swansea and brought home two gold, two silver and two bronze medals.

Sally Shields, swimming in the 50m and 200m Breaststroke continued to dominate her age group with an impressive double gold performance.

Wendy Offord swam in four events and secured two silvers and a bronze medal, while Kevan Brown took part in three events and finished third in the men’s 200m breaststroke.

Mark Lapping, the Borough of Kirklees head coach, said “All three swimmers did exceptionally well, which was reward for their hard work in training and dedication to their sport.

“Wendy, Kevan and Sally are three of the 60 members of BOK swimming club and train up to seven times per week within the Kirklees Active Leisure swim performance squad.”

The club also had a number of competitors at the British Gas International Swimming meet in Manchester.

Competing alongside some of the country’s best swimmers were another trio of BOK memebers Kyle Chisholm, Dan Cross and James Reidy.

All aged 17 they performed well in the Under 18s category, with Cross finishing sixth in the 100m backstroke and eighth in the 200m backstroke.

Chisholm finished in fourth in the 100m butterfly, ninth for the 200m butterfly and tenth for the 400m freestyle.

Reidy finished in 12th position for the 400m individual medley.

The youngsters now prepare for the National Championships which take place in August.
