Huddersfield netball team Hi-Tech are celebrating promotion to the Northern League.

They were successful in the play-offs at Whitcliffe Mount Sports Centre, showing incredible drive and determination.

While Hi-Tech and Trafford Netball Club were striving for promotion, Middlesbrough side Grangetown were battling to stay in the Northern League.

Hi-Tech won both games convincingly, achieving promotion to play Northern League netball in the upcoming 2015-16 season.

They defeated Trafford 42-22 and Grangetown 39-26 to book their place.

Promotion completed the 2014-15 season in style for Hi-Tech, who have secured the quadruple for the second year running.

Hi-Tech compete in four different leagues every week, and this season became champions of Huddersfield, Halifax, West Yorkshire and Yorkshire.

The club played a total of 53 games and won 51. Hi-Tech were also winners at the annual Park Tournament in June last year.

This is an annual tournament held at Greenhead Park. This year’s has been renamed in honour of Maureen Kelly and Hi-Tech will be looking to retain the title on Sunday, when more than 20 teams will be competing.

The club was founded 26 years ago in 1989 and now consists of two teams, ranging in age from 15 to 53 years.

With over 40 registered players, Hi-Tech continue to grow and reach new heights, encouraging women of all ages to participate in competitive sport at a high level.

This season has been an tremendous highlight in the club’s history and captain Joy Cummings-Douglas said: “I am so proud of Hi-Tech and the performances they produce, week in,

week out.

“The team are really excited to be taking on the challenge of playing in the prestigious Northern League next season, and we can’t wait for the new season to start.”
