UNDER-STRENGTH Emley Moor bowed out of the Pennine President’s Cup at the second-round stage after suffering a 38-8 defeat at Keighley Albion.
It was always going to be a tough test for First Division Moor against opponents who have made a solid start to their Premier Division campaign.
But what made the challenge even harder was that Moor were forced to field a weakened side, with half-a-dozen second-team players taking the step up to face a top-flight side.
Yet having said all that, the visitors still gave a good account of themselves, with Kyle Smith, Adam Dodson, Simon Walker, Sean Folan, Jonathan Clegg and Duncan Peacock all making a positive impression.
And after a shaky start when Moor fell 10-0 behind, they began to get into their stride and by half-time had cut the gap to two points after tries from Oliver Davidson and Karl Adamski.
But despite the best second-half efforts of Simon Adamski, Albion’s Premier experience began to tell and they raced away with the tie.
