NEWSOME Panthers are celebrating derby success!

The in-form Second Division leaders made it four wins out of four with their 36-26 triumph over arch Huddersfield rivals Moldgreen.

The victory keeps the Panthers two points ahead of Wibsey Warriors and Wortley Dragons, while defeat leaves Moldgreen still searching for their second win of the campaign.

Tom Beaumont grabbed a hat trick as Emley Moor made it two wins from four Division I starts with an emphatic 40-10 triumph over Keighley Town.

The winger – who is relatively new to the game after starting with the second team last season – struck twice in the first half and once in the second.

His first-half scores helped Moor build up a 16-6 interval advantage, with Dave Pawson also crossing and Karl Adamski landing two goals.

Then he completed his hat trick early in the second half, while Jason Southwell and Adamski also crossed and hooker Mark Kingsley grabbed a try on his debut.

There was also a victory for Slaithwaite Saracens, who cruised to a 66-0 win at struggling Wyke.

Within two minutes, the writing was on the wall for the hosts as Nathan Shaw followed up his own kick to open the scoring.

And by half-time the lead had been extended to 20 points thanks to a second from Shaw – after good work from Matt Lodge – and two tries from Lee McAfferty, and two Richard Flooks conversions.

In the second half, Wyke just couldn’t get out of their own half as the Saracens defence proved outstanding.

At the same time, Slaithwaite tries came thick and fast through Graham Fryer, Flooks (3), Simon Burkenshaw (2), Shaw, Joe Fitzpatrick and Stuart Dunbar, with Flooks adding five more goals.

A total of 28 points were scored between the 60th and 70th minutes which resulted in the referee ending the game 10 minutes early.

There was also an excellent win for Slaithwaite’s second team as they secured a 46-6 derby victory over St Joseph’s in Division VI.

Outstanding for the Saracens were hat-trick man Kyle Dyson, two-try Richard Gutteridge, man-of-the-match Gavin Dyson, Lee Hurd and new men Bower, Sykes, Butcher and Ellis.

The teams were evenly-matched for the opening 15 minutes, but as soon as the Saracens got into their stride there was no stopping them as they shot into a 22-0 interval lead.

Joe’s scored the opening second-half try, but this fired up the home side, with Dyson’s super kicks opening up the Joe’s defence time and again.
