MELTHAM All Blacks secured a much-needed 12-10 triumph at King Cross in Division V.

It was only in the last two minutes when victory was secured with a Matthew Carter try, which Rob Lewis coolly converted from a difficult position.

In what was a tight game throughout, Scott Quarmby opened the scoring for Meltham as he followed up Adam Lodge’s grubber beneath the posts and Lewis converted.

But King Cross replied with an unconverted score to make it 6-4 at the break.

The home side then took a lead which threatened to take the game out of the All Blacks’ reach.

But with time ticking away, Jordan Pedalty chipped ahead for Carter to score and for Lewis to add the extras and seal a win in which David Roebuck hooker and man-of-the-match Carter stood out.

That was the only game to take place in Division V, while in the only Division VI fixture, Slaithwaite A secured a 38-18 derby win over St Joseph’s A.
