The Mirfield Stags have announced that they have submitted an application for the club to join the RLF Yorkshire Men’s League the coming season.

If their application is accepted by the RFL, it would see competitive rugby league return to Mirfield for the first time in almost five years.

The Stags had their official launch at The Railway pub in which 200 people showed up to welcome players, their friends and family and the Stags’ supporters and sponsors.Mir

Mirfield’s all-new coaching team, consisting of Richard Silverwood and Simon Hagger, were introduced by honorary president Robbie Hunter-Paul who also addressed the crowd at the event.

The club’s recent recruitment process has included a few notable names, the majority of them from Mirfield, have left the Stags optimistic ahead of their debut season.

“We were absolutely thrilled with last week’s launch, it was a key moment for the return of rugby league to Mirfield”, said a club spokesperson.

“We knows there is huge appetite for the sport in this town, that has been the message from sponsors, potential supporters and interested players alike.”
