A NEW Huddersfield ‘masters’ RL touch and pass competition will get under way tomorrow night.

With six teams already entered, the competition looks set to be a big success.

So far teams from Slaithwaite, St Joseph’s, Meltham, Lindley, Moldgreen and Emley have registered.

But the competition organisers are looking for two more teams to guarantee a full quota.

The criteria for taking part is that players must be over 33-years-old and not been involved in competitive sport for 12 months.

Tomorrow’s first matches kick-off at 6.30pm, with the first three weeks being non-competitive to allow everyone the chance to get used to the format.

From May 21, the eight-team league will get under way with the winner going through to the regional finals.

Grimscar public house will be offering food and refreshments to everyone taking part, and it will also screening the Friday night Super League games for everyone to enjoy after they’ve played themselves.

And for anyone interested in becoming involved, please contact competition organiser Kevin Bower on 07542 215995.

Crusaders have filled their scrum-half vacancy by completing the signing of Australian utility back Jarrod Sammut.

The 23-year-old has joined the Wrexham club from NRL side Penrith Panthers.
