NEWSOME PANTHERS are about to play their biggest game of the season.

Tomorrow, they host Brighouse Rangers knowing victory would make them red-hot favourites to take the Pennine League Second Division title.

Brighouse may be at the top of the table, but while they have lost three games from their 13 fixtures, the Panthers boast nine wins and a draw from their opening 10 fixtures.

A Newsome win would, therefore, take them to the top with three games in hand halfway through the season.

On the other hand, Moldgreen face a different challenge – holding on to their Second Division status. They are fourth bottom with three wins from 12 starts and a home win against a Morley Borough side who are one place above them in the table would do their chances of staying up a power of good.

In the Premier Division, St Joseph’s desperately need a boost after losing to second-bottom Keighley Albion last week, although that could be tough at second-placed Sharlston Rovers who have yet to be beaten in the top flight.

Slaithwaite Saracens’ relentless march towards the Division I title continues tomorrow with a home clash against relegation-threatened Illingworth, while Emley Moor look to maintain their form with a home win over West Bowling.

Division III team Lindley Swifts look to keep on the title track with a much-expected home victory over Ovenden A, and Underbank should be hopeful of picking up two points when they travel to bottom club Hollinwood.

Meltham All Blacks are another side who should be confident when they take the trip to struggling Guiseley Rangers in Division V, while in Division VI there’s a big derby battle at Fartown where St Joseph’s hosts leaders Newsome Panthers. At the same time, Emley Moor are at Illingworth A.
