SLAITHWAITE Saracens finished the final home game of their Pennine League Premier Division season in style with a convincing 44-0 win over Clayton.

It took the Holliday Cup winners 20 minutes to get into their stride, but after that it was all one-way traffic.

Sam Crowther set the ball rolling by finishing off a good move and then two minutes before the break Simon Birkenshaw crossed to double his side’s lead.

And on the stroke of half-time Danny Garside touched down and David Holmes added his third conversion to make it 18-0.

Straight from the restart Gavin Dyson went over in the corner, and at this point Clayton were reduced to 11 men due to injuries.

So it was no surprise the Saracens began to score at will with further tries from Damian Kenchington, Stuart Dunbar, Liam Tindall and Lee McAfferty, and a further three Holmes’ conversions.

It was at this point the referee decided enough was enough and called time on the one-sided affair.
