SLAITHWAITE Saracens A team kept their 100% winning record and stay top of the table after battling to a hard-fought 22-6 victory over Burley Lions in Division V of the Pennine Amateur Rugby League.

Another excellent defensive display from Saracen players Kyle Dyson, Liam Tindall and Lee Hurd epitomised their recent performances as they continued to dominate in the division.

It took 20 minutes for Saracens A to assert their authority in this clash.

Mark Beeby went over for the side’s first try, one of three touchdowns which Gavin Dyson duly converted.

The table toppers continued to impress, scoring two more quick-fire tries without reply.

First, Richard Gutteridge went over before Martin Haigh scored his first try of the match. When Dyson scored the other two conversions, Saracens looked firmly on top.

However, just before half-time Burley Lions hit back and got the try and conversion they desperately needed.

Nevertheless, Saracens continued to pressure the visitors – despite the difficult weather conditions – with the Lions failing to mount any sort of comeback.

Haigh scored his second try of the game after the break, giving Saracens an unassailable lead and the victory their performance deserved.
