THERE was little joy for under strength Emley Moor as they slipped to a 28-12 home defeat against Wibsey.

The Emley club as a whole were missing 19 players through injuries or unavailability, but the first team battled hard in their Pennine League Division I West clash with Robert Kaskiewicz and James Bousfield impressing after being promoted from the seconds.

Two tries from Dave Pawson and two goals from Jack Dyson kept Emley in the hunt against their Bradford rivals.

There were also strong performances from Chris Shepherd, Richard Sharpe and Adam Dodson.

There was little joy for Moor’s A team as they travelled to Clayton A for a Division VI clash.

The second string were weakened and started without any recognised half backs and not surprisingly they lost heavily to the Bradford outfit 68-4.

Moor got off to a dreadful start conceding three converted tries.

Stand-in scrum half Taff Barron spotted a gap and powered his way over for Emley’s only points of the first half, but the second half continued in the same vein to finish off a bad day.

However, the strong debut displays of Joe Kelly and Andy Hirst were a bonus.
