BULLS prop Sam Burgess has been cleared to play against Warrington on Sunday after recovering from concussion.

The 18-year-old prop lay motionless on the ground for five minutes after colliding with Giants forward Darrell Griffin during the Bulls' opening 18-14 engage Super League win last weekend.

His neck was placed in a protective brace and he was carried from the field on a stretcher, sparking fears of a serious injury.

But he quickly recovered and has passed the compulsory head test.

"I got through that fine and now hopefully I'll be able to get the nod for Warrington," said Burgess.

Meanwhile, England captain Rob Purdham has given his backing to the Rugby Football League's plans to limit the number of overseas players in Super League.

The RFL is talking to the Super League clubs about the issue, with the aim being to promote young British talent.

"I think it's a good idea" said the Harlequins skipper.

"It would give more of the lads in the academies and lower divisions the chance of playing at a higher level. It should make for a stronger GB squad."

The proposals, which have yet to be agreed, will require Super League clubs to produce at least 20% of their first-team squad from their academy.

And the intention is to remove the loophole which allows foreign players with EU passports or from `Kolpak' countries - those which have an associate agreement with the EU such as Tonga, Fiji and Samoa - to avoid the current limitations.
