NEW Zealand Test prop Jason Cayless remains confident champions St Helens can transform themselves from Super League strugglers to world champions in a week.

Saints go into Friday's World Club RL Challenge against Brisbane Broncos riddled with injuries and a startling loss of form, having suffered back-to-back defeats at the hands of Harlequins and Wakefield.

"You never want to lose matches but this is a big game and it doesn't really take much to turn it around," said Cayless, who expects to return to the side after missing Sunday's defeat at Wakefield with an Achilles injury.

"One win and everyone will forget about those two losses because we'll be the world champions."

Saints are without Maurie Fa'asavalu (knee) and have major doubts over Keiron Cunningham (hip) and captain Paul Sculthorpe (knee).

But Jon Wilkin is free from suspension.
