UNDERBANK powerhouse Craig Williams believes his side now hold the advantage in this season’s thrilling title-race.

Rangers were five points adrift of leaders Hemel Stags two weeks ago, and the notion the fight for top spot in the National Conference League III had been lost became a real possibility.

But following Bank’s crushing victory over Warrington Wizards last Saturday, Hemel failed to record even a bonus point against the aggressive Coventry Bears, leaving Bank just two points off top with one game in hand.

Unfortunately, Bank will be unable to maintain their momentum this weekend, with scheduled opponents South Wales Hornets being forced to concede the fixture due to a player shortage.

But the adaptable prop (pictured) believes his side’s destiny lies in their own hands as they look to head into the play-offs as top dogs in the league.

And Beefy, as he’s nicknamed, is ready to assist Rangers in regaining the title-winning form that saw them storm to 10 games unbeaten.

“It was a good surprise to find out Hemel lost against Coventry because now it means our fate is in our own hands, and that will only help us,” said the 24-year-old.

“A lot of the guys are big confidence players, they like to know they are doing well. Knowing it is now down to us is great.

“Now we have to go out and perform like we know we can and like we have done.

“If we do that then I am pretty sure we will come off good at the end of the season and finish where we deserve, and that is in pole position.

“We have appeared to have sorted out a few issues we had earlier in the season and they don’t seem to be a problem any more.

“I think we’ve got the right people in the right place at the right time to enable that to happen, and I feel very confident we are now in a position to make the Grand Final, providing we perform to our ability.”
