CLUB captain Dave Edwards will make his first Conference National appearance of the season tomorrow when Underbank Rangers make the trip to East Lancashire Lions.

The influential stand-off, right, missed the opening two games because he was in his native Australia celebrating his father's 50th birthday.

But he is back to boost the side as they look to build on their opening win of the campaign at Gateshead Storm a fortnight ago.

And Edwards' return could not have come at a better time.

Coach Aaron Perrin is lacking the services of 13 members of his Conference squad due to injury and availability, with the latest casualty being prop Darren Greenwood, who broke a hand in training earlier this week.

But the Underbank chief still believes his team has what it takes to pick up another win.

"Although the squad could be a lot stronger, the starting 13 is arguably the best we have," said Perrin.

"Having Dave back with us is a tremendous boost, and we should also be stronger with Tom Senior in the starting line-up at centre.

"He came off the bench to score four tries in our win at Gateshead, so he's clearly a player in form.

"And so, too, is prop Jamie Tarazi, who has been called up to the England Lionhearts train-on squad on the back of his opening performances.

"So I have no doubt this is a side capable of coming back with the points.

"Although I was happy to win at Gateshead, I wasn't happy with the performance overall.

"We've worked on trying to put right the things that went wrong that day, and if we do then I'm confident victory will be ours this weekend."
