SIDDAL will be looking to reach the National Conference Premier Grand Final at the first attempt as they lock horns with table-toppers Wath Brow Hornets at Red Beck Fell tomorrow.

And Huddersfield Giants star Luke Robinson is backing them all the way (2.00).

The 27-year-old Halifax-born England international has helped with coaching at Siddal, who were his junior club.

The Calderdale side have been Grand Finalists for the last three years and Robinson said: “They have a few experienced players who have been involved in previous seasons and they will be hoping that will count.

“They have won in two of those seasons, and in one instance they did that having finished second, taking the Grand Final despite not being minor champions, so they will be looking to do that again.”

Both sides enjoyed a week off last weekend after finishing the regular season in the top two, but now face each other in the qualifying semi-final, with the Hornets hoping to make the most of home advantage.

The hosts were unbeaten on their own patch all season in the league with Myton Warriors denying the Cumbrian side a 100% record as they grabbed a 17-17 draw in September.

While the winners go straight to the final at Widnes’ Stobart Stadium on Sunday, November 18, the defeated side have a second chance in a final elimination game against either Myton or Thatto Heath Crusaders.
