HALIFAX will host the draw for the Northern Rail Cup, when the 14 Championship clubs enter the competition, at The Shay tonight.

BBC Radio Leeds will broadcast the draw live at 6.20pm when Halifax head coach Karl Harrison will be waiting to see who his trophy holders will face in the last 16 – which also includes London Skolars and North Wales Crusaders who made it through the group stages.

The Shay will also stage the Northern Rail Finals Day on Saturday, July 20, but more pressing for Harrison is getting his team back to winning ways in the Championship.

Leaders Halifax suffered their first defeat of the season when they were beaten 40-18 at Featherstone Rovers, who moved second in the Kingstone Press Championship table with the victory.

However, Harrison will be hopeful of an immediate response as his side are at home to Barrow Raiders on Sunday – the team they knocked out of the Challenge Cup’s fourth round 52-6 at the same venue.

Despite the setback at the Big Fellas Stadium, Harrison has said that he does not envisage having to add to the Halifax squad any time soon.

“I’m happy with the way things are going,” said Harrison.

“We got our squad together in pre-season and we are going with that.

“We are always looking at players and, if we felt the squad needed improving, then we would look at that.”
