UNDERBANK Rangers opened the New Year with three wins from their four games.

The Academy led the way with a superb 42-0 victory over Dewsbury Moor.

Joint men-of-the-match Francis Entressengle and Ross White were in excellent tryscoring form as they both grabbed hat tricks, while Zac Stanger and Chris Jackson also scored. Jamie Nagle completed the points tally with five goals.

An top defensive effort sealed a 6-4 victory for the Under 16s at Farnley.

All the points came in the first half, with Rangers opening the scoring with a try from Dayle King and goal from Oliver Moorhouse.

They then defended magnificently to seal a quality victory.

The Under 10s secured a good 44-22 triumph at Emley Moor.

Man-of-the-match Lewis Churm ran in four tries, while top grafter Andy Cuthill and Coby Ettienne scred two each and George Heppenstall added another.

Heppenstall, Ettienne, Jack Turner and Jack Wilson added goals.

But there was a heavy 36-0 defeat for the Under 12s at Illingworth, with George Price man-of-the-match and Oliver Todd top grafter.

Luke Pogson made the difference as Meltham Under 10s beat Halifax Vandals 18-16.

In a tight contest Pogson's quality told with a hat trick and kicking responsibilities. Elliot Currid also touched down in this game of flowing rugby.

The Under 11s struggled to cope with the wet, blustery conditions at Halifax.

David Dyson was responsible for Meltham's points but could do little to prevent the defeat.

The home side were much better organised and deservedly won 28-6.

The Under 12s battled bravely in defeat but were always working hard to contain Kings Cross.

Sam Dennis scored his first try for Meltham and at half-time the 8-4 scoreline gave the game a competitive look.

Cross extended their lead in the second half to win 20-4.

Moldgreen suffered defeat at Under 9s and Under 8s level.

The Under 9s were beaten 54-50 at Huddersfield Sharks, with John Coletta scoring five tries.

There were also tries for Miles Dickenson, Cain Madden and Idris Shah, with Nathan Hepworth and Samuel Mann chipping in with goals.

But there was a heavy 48-0 defeat for the Under 8s against Brighouse.

Top tackler was Bradley Tracey, top grafter was Jordan Paga and the man-of-the-matc was Ethan.
