Six days ago, Lindley Swifts and Newsome Panthers were involved in a thrilling 24-24 Pennine League Championship I Division derby scrap.

And now the Panthers must do it all again against one of their arch Huddersfield rivals when they host St Joseph’s in another eagerly-anticipated encounter tomorrow.

Both sides are still searching for a first win of the season, with the Panthers hoping playing at their own Newsome High School base tips the balance in their favour.

Slaithwaite Saracens, on the other hand, opened their Championship Division campaign with a home win over Pontefract outfit Chequerfield Rangers, and will be looking to make it two our of two at King Cross Park.

Second Division Underbank Rangers are bidding to secure their first win at the second attempt when they travel to Siddal, while Division IV side Meltham All Blacks go in search of win No2 at Thornhill Trojans A.

And in Division V, Slaithwaite A play their first game of the season at home to Garforth Tigers.
