A TEAM from the YMCA emerged victorious in the 19th annual Huddersfield Rugby League Players Association Golf Day at Crosland Heath.

They got the nod ahead of former Fartown and Great Britain prop Paul Dixon’s team to claim the Shaw Timber Frustrated Golfer Trophy by the narrowest of margins.

Playing stableford with two to score and then three to score on the 17th, the two teams finished level on 90 points.

The winners came from the team who had the best score over the last nine holes, which meant the YM boys of John Dearden, Colin Wood, Martin Hunt, and Paul Bloor took the honours

That denied Dixon and his team made up of Gary Senior, David Oates and David Scott.

The previous two times winners, Andy Baimbridge’s team, finished third.

There was, however some consolation for Dixon as he won the longest drive on the 16th, while the nearest pin was won by Jim Ewens from Baimbridge’s team.
