IESTYN HARRIS gained his first win as Wales coach with a crushing 88-8 success over Serbia in their European Cup match in Smederevo .

Wales ran in 13 tries at the Fortress Stadium against a single four-pointer from a Serbia side who never gave up. That try was scored early on by Netherton-based player Austen Barrowclough.

The 19-year-old former Honley High student, who has been offered a new contract by Oldham RL Club, plays for Serbia under his mother’s maiden name of Novakovic.

Wales next face Ireland at Sardis Road, Pontypridd, on Sunday, where they will bid to win a European Cup final place.

Wales lost 48-12 to England in a friendly at the Brewery Field, Bridgend, last Saturday, Harris’s first game in charge of the side.
