BRIGHOUSE RANGERS Under 13 side defeated Birstall Victoria 30-28 in Division II of the Yorkshire Junior League thanks to a determined second-half display.

Rangers were 16-8 at the break, but the team managed to improve their performance to claim a hard-fought victory.

First-half tries from Sam Bourouh and Milo Martin were not enough to counter an impressive Birstall side, and it wasn’t until the second period that Brighouse found their rhythm.

Harry Woodhouse epitomised their second-half spirit, playing most of the match with a broken arm, while also crossing for a second-half try.

He was assisted by man of the match Ben Dickinson who, along with Jack Barraclough, battled brilliantly to give Brighouse the upper hand.

Bourouh grabbed his second try, while great touchdowns from both Tristan Fallowfield, converted by Luke Worsley and Ronan Sylvester, made it 30-16 to Brighouse.

A late Victoria flurry proved in vain as Rangers held on for the victory.
