MOLDGREEN’S Under 13 team produced one of their best displays of the season to topple third in the table Queensbury 24-16.
Queensbury started the Yorkshire Junior League Division Three clash well, but were held out by a determined Moldgreen defence.
It proved to be a tight first half and tries from Daniel Flanagan and James Banks, plus a goal from Ethan, ensured Moldgreen turned around on level terms.
Queensbury scored early in the second half to put pressure on Moldgreen but they responded well and pulled level when good work by Sam Pegg led to Connor Paga going over and Ethan again added the goal.
Great tackling stints from Ethan, Marcus Wade and Morgan Longley ensured Queensbury were held out and Moldgreen gained the victory when Jack Gill went over – Ethan added two more goals.
Moldgreen’s Under 14 side were comfortable 60-4 winners in their Yorkshire Junior League Division Three fixture away to Wyke.
Connor Smith soon scored the first of his four tries in the opening half and they reached half-time 30-4 up with further tries coming from Leon Donaldson and Isaac Griffiths.
Joe Dickenson was in good kicking form and ended the game with five goals to his credit – Keiron Reilly also added a goal.
Moldgreen’s second half tries came from Smith, who scored two more, Griffiths added his second, there were two for John Coletta and one for Liam Harriott.
In The Yorkshire Junior League’s Under 11 Division Two Moldgreen travelled to rivals Newsome Panthers and notched a 20-18 win.
Tries from Lewis, Ben and Travis, plus goals from Callum and Jordan saw Moldgreen lead 16-6 at halt-time.
A second-half try from Patsy looked to have secured a comfortable win, but late tries saw Newsome close the gap to just two points.
