SEVEN members of the St Joseph’s Shark’s girls squad travelled to Castleford Panthers to take their places in the Yorkshire Under 14 and Under 16 sides to face teams from Lancashire, Cumbria and the North East.

Four players joined the Under 14 side, Amy Plowman at stand-off, Jasmine Earnshaw on the wing, Lucy Wood at centre and Dionne Webster at prop.

All the girls put in great performances and worked well with their teammates from the other Yorkshire clubs.

The team beat both Lancashire and Cumbria by two tries to nil, and conceded their only try in a three tries to one victory over the North East team.

Sharks were represented by three girls at Under 16 level with Jenny Doughty, Lucy Eastwood and Jordanne Newsholme in action.

Doughty played well but had to have her finger re-set at pitch side after dislocating it, Eastwood was at stand-off and had fantastic games, scoring one try and setting up a number of others, while Newsholme was at prop and put in a number of her strong runs.

The Under 16 side went one better than the Under 14 team as they ‘nilled’ all three of their rivals.
