EMILY WILSON was the star of the day as she scored four tries for the Huddersfield Combined team in an Under 14 tournament against St Helens and Widnes.

The St Joseph’s Sharks player scored a brace in each game, as Huddersfield won both matches convincingly.

In their first game against Widnes they showed their intentions, taking the lead early on and dominating throughout, eventually winning 20-12.

They took their form into the second game against St Helens, winning 28-16 in a relatively comfortable win.

Wilson scored her first and the tournament’s first try of the day, giving Huddersfield the lead over Widnes.

Widnes replied immediately, but from then onwards, Huddersfield took control.

Clever attacking play allowed Faye Hepworth and Amy Plowman, who scored twice, to cross the line.

Before the game was over there was time for Wilson to score her second try of the game, while good defensive work from Eleanor Broadley and Jasmine Earnshaw limited Widnes to just two further tries.

The second game against St Helens started as the previous had ended, with rampant attacking play from Huddersfield.

Strong early drives from Broadley and quick passing from Beth Swift led to Plowman opening the scoring.

Elusive running from Alys Senior allowed her to cross the line for two tries, along with a brace for Wilson, a second for Plowman and a score for one of the Brighouse girls.

An ever-improving Daniella Gregory and Nichole from Brighouse helped Huddersfield see out the victory.
