LINDLEY Swifts climbed to third place in the table after a 50-28 success at King Cross.

The Swifts made a strong start to the Yorkshire Junior League Under 13 Division IV clash and got on the scoreboard first when a drive by Harrison ended with Booth powering over the line – and Costello added the goal.

Broscombe and Costello quickly added another 10 points for the visitors before the Halifax side grabbed their first points, but by half-time Lindley were 32-4 ahead with Harrison, Naffa and Broscombe adding tries and Costello kicking two goals.

The pattern continued in the second half as the Swifts scored after just two minutes with Kelly crossing and Costello adding the goal.

The home side finally found their form and a good spell saw them cut the deficit by 10 points.

Lindley rediscovered their form with man of the match award winner Broscombe alert to the opportunities on offer as he snapped up two quick tries – and Costello added the goals.

King Cross countered and finished strongly, scoring three more tries, but the Swifts had already secured the points.

Lindley face a stern test this weekend as they take on an Oulton Raiders side who are one place and two points above them in the table, at home.
