ST JOSEPH'S entertain Birkenshaw tonight (7.00), knowing victory will gain them promotion to the Premier Division of the Pennine League.

Both sides still have a chance of joining First Division champions Kippax Welfare in the League's elite division.

But with St Joseph's confidence high after their 68-24 triumph at Westgate Redoubt, they will be relishing this vitally important fixture.

The visitors got off to a poor start, conceding the opening try, but by half-time they had opened up a 34-6 lead and were in complete control.

Phil Drain made an immediate impact with a quickfire hat trick, with others coming from Leon Alexis, Shaun Mitchell and Neil Barrett, who also added the goals.

In the second half, Alexis and Mitchell both completed hat tricks, while James Street and Martin Mosse also crossed to round off an emphatic victory, which delighted head coach Jody Shaw.

"I was really pleased with some of our attacking play," he said.

"We rolled our sleeves up and got on with the job.

"It was crucial we got the two points to set us up for tonight's match at Fartown.

"Birkenshaw are a quality side and we know we must be at our best to get that vital win and we are looking forward to it.

"Our supporters have been excellent all season and have really got behind us.

"The lads have entertained them with some really good rugby all season and we would love nothing more than to get promotion to the Premier Division."
