Newsome Panthers B Under 8 produced a strong display against Stanley Rangers.

The Panthers looked lively from the start with Marley Myers breaking free and Max Fleary was able to dart over the opening try.

Stanley replied with a score and started to build pressure on the Newsome line.

A great tackling effort from the Panthers kept Stanley out for two repeat sets, Alex Kirk showed good strength to bundle a Ranger into touch close to the try line.

William Eyre relieved the pressure with a long run-down field just getting caught near the Ranger’s line.

Stanley scored a couple of quick fire tries before Panther Cameron Penrose was held short, Harvey Days continued the move and the ball returned to Penrose who went for a try, but Stanley finished the half with a further score.

Newsome reduced the deficit at the start of the second half with Fleary skipping down the touch line and diving in for an excellent individual try.

Myers, Jay Crosby and Eoin Morris lead some fierce tackling by the Newsome side before Fleary completed his hat trick.

The move of the game came from the Panthers with Demir Acarer running at the defence and offloading the ball to William Eyre who shot down the touch line and planted the ball down for a score.

With the scores level Stanley managed a try but the Panthers matched it with a fantastic run from Archie Duncan who ran through the Rangers defenders and broke clear to score.

Days was held up on the Rangers try line and Stanley managed to work the ball up field to get the winning try.

Panther Niamh Ennis was held out as the final whistle went. Coach’s man of the match was Fleary with top tackler Marley.
