NEWSOME Panthers Under 9s side hit the road to take on Methley Warriors.

The visitors had to battle hard in a tight contest in which there was a first-half try for Aaron Drew.

Methley replied early in the second half, but good work by Naumaan Khan, Jaden Dayes and Callum Burhouse led to Newsome’s Will Lockwood scoring his 10th try of the season in the corner.

However, the Warriors found their feet and scored three more tries.

Newsome Panthers Under 7s played West Bowling at Hall Bower and scored first when Cian Gleadall forced his way through.

West Bowling gained a try of their own but the home side scored further first-half touchdowns through Joel Gardner and Gleadall crossing for his second.

But Newsome were met try for try and the first half ended with West Bowling having the upper hand.

Newsome skipper Braith Bower crossed twice early in the second half before Andre Derrick went in for his first try of the season and Gardner added two more.
