BEATEN Giants boss Paul Anderson is confident major progress can be made if his side tightens up their defence.

Huddersfield last night suffered their ninth defeat in 10 Super League games after falling 46-12 at in-form St Helens.

The visitors conceded eight tries in total, including five in an opening 27 minutes horror show. Anderson knows that cost his side any hopes of pulling off a morale-boosting victory. But the new head coach feels there were some positives.

“Although it’s never nice to have a score put on you, it wasn’t all bad,” said Anderson. “Offensively I felt we made big strides.

“In the first half we had two chances and took them and there were also times in the second when we threatened their line.

“But defensively there is still a lot of work for us to do. If we start turning up and working for each other once again I know there’s enough in us to start winning.”
