FOUR players from Underbank have been selected to represent the Kirklees Service Area this summer.

Under 14s squad members Tom Price, Billy Wray and Gaz Atkinson have again been selected and Under 12s player Morgan Ettienne has got his first call-up for his age group.

Selections have been taking place over the last few weeks with the best players from teams throughout North and South Kirklees chosen.

Matches will be played in May and June against other Service Area squads from Leeds, South Yorkshire, Calderdale, Bradford and Oldham.

The opening games are on May 12, with the Under 12s and 13s at Leeds and the Under 14s and 15s entertaining Leeds at Batley's Mount Pleasant ground.

Meanwhile, Underbank's Under 14s had further cause for celebration with a 46-12 victory over Guiseley.

Man-of-the-match Tom Price grabbed a hat trick, with further tries from Gaz Atkinson, who scored two, Ashley Moorhouse and the first of the season from top hooker Ben Kellett.

Atkinson converted six and there was one from Josh Finch.

The club's youngest squad - the Under 10s - had a weekend full of rugby league, taking part in a festival at Brighouse Rangers on Saturday where they played top teams Queensbury, Siddal and West Bowling.

Then on Sunday they took part in a curtain-raiser at the Galpharm Stadium before the Huddersfield Giants versus Harlequins match.

Underbank beat Huddersfield Sharks eight tries to one.

They also walked around the pitch before the game with fellow players, watched by parents and friends.
