UNDERBANK Rangers are about to play their most important Conference National clash of the season!
That’s the view of football manager Neil Farrell as his side prepares to play the game that can guarantee a place in the end-of-season play-offs.
Victory over Gateshead Storm at The Cross tomorrow (2.30) means Rangers can’t be prevented from finishing in the top five.
And if East Lancashire can win at Featherstone Lions at the same time and Underbank are then victorious over the Lions in a re-arranged fixture at home on Tuesday night (6.45), the Huddersfield club could finish fourth.
But Farrell knows his side can’t afford to look beyond this massive game against Gateshead first.
“We know we can finish fourth if results go our way,” said Farrell.
“But right now all that matters is beating Gateshead tomorrow to ensure we earn a play-off spot, which has been our target from day one.
“Because we’re fifth and Gateshead are sixth we know victory will give us the place at their expense, and that’s a fantastic feeling.
“It means this fixture really is a ‘must-win’ for both clubs.
“And we see no reason why it won’t be achieved.
“We were bitterly disappointed to lose narrowly at Featherstone Lions last weekend, particularly as it was such a late try that denied us.
“But we know our destiny still lies in our own hands and, after the events of last week, everyone is determined to make amends tomorrow.”
