AFTER four tough away matches, Slaithwaite Saracens had a field day against Thornhill Trojans, cruising to a 56-0 victory to remain unbeaten in the Pennine League Second Division.
Although the visitors included a couple of players from their National Conference League side, they were no match for the Saracens as they remained hot on the heels of leaders Westgate Wolves.
It took Slaithwaite just four minutes to open the scoring, with some swift passing enabling Matty Garside to score a try in the corner, converted by Dave Holmes, and the home side were on their way.
Five minutes later Nathan Shaw went over after beating at least six defenders to score and then tries were scored at regular intervals through Richard Flooks (2), Darren Hawkyard and a second from Garside, with Holmes landing four further goals to make it 34-0 at half-time.
At the start of the second half Flooks (inset) intercepted on his own line to run the length of the field to score under the posts to complete his hat trick.
He then added a fourth, while Simon Burkinshaw and Stuart Dunbar also crossed and Holmes landed three more to make it 56-0, and the referee ended the game 10 minutes early to put the visitors out of their misery.
