SUPER Slaithwaite Saracens have taken another huge step in their bid to claim the Fourth Division crown.
Their 14-2 home triumph over big title rivals Whitehall Warriors has now installed the Saracens as the favourites to finish top.
This was just the second defeat of the season suffered by the Warriors, while the Saracens now boast a record of 12 wins, one draw and one defeat from their 14 League outings.
And Slaithwaite had to dig deep to guarantee this latest - and crucial - success.
Despite dominating the opening 15 minutes, their visitors took the lead against the run of play to set the alarm bells ringing.
But the Saracens responded superbly and within five minutes had taken a lead they were never to lose as man-of-the-match Lee Mason, pictured, raced over for a try, converted by Richard Flooks.
That helped give the home side a narrow 6-2 interval lead, and it wasn't until the final five minutes that they made the game safe.
After a period of sustained pressure, Kyle Dyson darted over from the play-the-ball and Flooks again converted.
That signalled the beginning of the end of Whitehall's challenge and a late Flooks penalty rounded off a superb day for the Saracens.
