Huddersfield St Joseph’s Shark Under 12 made the long trip to Heworth and came away with an impressive 32-14 victory.

In the early stages strong defending repeatedly kept out Heworth with Joe Morrison, Harvey Jubb and Jacob Bentley making stand out contributions to the clean sheet.

Wingers Ike Vangrove and Levell Lewis caused the York outfit plenty of problems on both flanks, while covering a lot of ground for defensive duties.

Four tries in the first half for Joes gave them a commanding 22-0 half-time lead.

Fred Woodhouse, with a hat trick and Morrison scored the tries, while Ethan Myers was successful with the conversions.

The second half was a slow starter for the Sharks with Heworth scoring a quick double to come right back into the game.

Once the St Joes forwards had switched on, they again got the upper hand.

Omar Simpson, Dan Carr and AJ Wallace making the direct drives that opened the way for Myers to run in under the posts.

Heworth scrambled a consolation try before Woodhouse finished things off with a trade mark 60 metre sprint.

The opposition’s man of the match was Woodhouse, man of steel went to Omar Simpson and man of the match was awarded to Ike Vangrove.

After last weeks 18 all draw against Cottingham Tigers the Moldgreen under 15s had another hard test against top of the table Oulton Raiders.

It was the visitors that opened the scoring but with tries from Sam Pegg, Will Perfitt, Nick Hanson and a conversion from James Addy it was a very close match with the final score 14-18 to Oulton Raiders.

The Oulton coach’s man of the match went to Sam Pegg with James Addy secound and Reece Boxall-Hunt third.

But there was also stand out performances from Perfitt, Hanson and Morgan Longley.

Next fixture is at home tomorrow against New Earswick.
