SUPER Slaithwaite Saracens rounded off the most memorable season in the club’s history with a 64-12 triumph over Lindley Swifts in the Andrew Bennett Memorial Trophy final.
Having already clinched the Pennine League Third Division crown and lifted the Holliday Cup, the treble was completed with another impressive performance at Dewsbury Rams’ Tetley’s Stadium.
It was a match the red-hot favourites dominated throughout, with their fellow Third Division derby rivals struggling to deal with the Saracens’ extra pace and power.
Centre Dave Holmes was at the heart of his side’s success, racing in for four excellent tries.
Mark Boothroyd and Richard Flooks chipped in with two each, while Chris Lodge, Michael Jackson and man-of-the-match Michael Johnson grabbed one each.
Slaithwaite will now be hoping this latest success will be enough to earn them the Pennine League Club of the Year crown.
In contrast, it was a disappointing end for the Swifts, who had done so well to reach the final.
They had also finished their Division III season in third spot.
