FORMER Giants and Great Britain prop Darren Fleary shows his still going strong on the rugby league field with a powerful charge for Newsome Panthers against St Joseph’s during the new Masters Touch and pass masters competition.

The Giants’ current Under 18s coach is one of over 70 players competing in the new Huddersfield event which is for players over 33-years-old who have not been involved in competitive sport for 12 months.

Amateur rugby league clubs from throughout the area have been taking part, with organiser Kevin Bower already hailing the competition a big success.

“We couldn’t be happier with the way things are going and we’re now hoping to attract even more teams and players,” he said. “Fartown on a Friday evening is proving a great place to be.”
