UNDERBANK Rangers skipper Lee St Hilaire believes that last week’s defeat by Hemel Stags could prove to be a blessing in disguise.

Rangers had recently raced to 10 straight wins in National Conference League Division III and appeared to be in unstoppable form.

But Saturday’s defeat has given the reigning champions reason to re-examine and tighten up specific areas on the pitch, as further slip-ups could prove costly to Bank’s title surge.

St Hilaire is looking to remedy any errors made against Stags as they prepare for a backlash at Warrington Wizards today.

“In a way it was good that we lost the game against Hemel, I feel we were starting to get a little complacent,” said St Hilaire.

“We are not used to losing as we have been winning all the time and since we were at home we expected it to be a breeze.

“The loss has shown us some areas that we will definitely fix up.

“We lost a round in the play-offs against Kippax and I think that if we didn’t lose that one then we wouldn’t have won the final, so perhaps this is a good thing.

“We just need to get our team spirit back but we know what to expect now and we know what we need to get sorted.

“So I reckon we will get back to winning ways against Warrington.”

Despite working to rule out any poor play from Underbank’s game, the second rower knows that overcoming Warrington on away soil will be no easy feat.

Since losing to Bank earlier this season at The Cross, Wizards have cruised to five victories on the trot and they will be hoping to extend that to six with second place in the table at stake.

“It is going to be tough; they always are at home. We did give them a good beating at home but it is going to be really tough over there,” said St Hilaire.

“They will want revenge and they will be thinking that we are not unbeatable now that we have lost so you know they are going to bring it to us.

“But we will be back to full strength with Kris Harrop, Craig Williams and Adam Carroll returning. As long as we improve our discipline then we will be looking to get back on track.”
